U.S. Secretary of Education Miguel Cardona today recognized 297 schools as for 2022, including 31 schools in Texas. The recognition is based on a school’s overall academic performance or progress in closing achievement gaps among student subgroups. Secretary Cardona made the announcement during his Road to Success Back to School bus tour.
Ratings are up since last issued in 2019, reflecting improvements in student academic growth rates

AUSTIN, Texas – July 1, 2022 - Today, the ¶¶ÒõÊÓÆµ released spring 2022 State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness (STAAR®) results for Grades 3-8. The results include exams in mathematics and reading for grades 3–8, 5th and 8th grade science, and 8th grade social studies. This year’s STAAR results show across-the-board improvements in all grades and subjects from 2021, with significant gains in reading.
