TEA Releases 2025 A–F Accountability Ratings; 2024 Ratings Now Also Available

AUSTIN, TX – August 15, 2025 — The ¶¶ÒõÊÓÆµ today released the 2025 A-F Accountability Ratings for public school systems and campuses across the state. Additionally, the delayed 2024 ratings have been made available to school systems and the public following the resolution of legal proceedings that previously prevented their release. 

The release of the 2025 A-F Ratings reestablishes critical transparency for Texas families, communities and school leaders after two years of lawsuit-induced delays.  

TEA Announces 2025 Charter School Decisions

AUSTIN, Texas – June 27, 2025 – The ¶¶ÒõÊÓÆµ today announced the decisions on Generation 30 charter school applications following the State Board of Education’s (SBOE) vote on recommendations from Commissioner of Education Mike Morath. 

The following Generation 30 charter school applicants are slated to begin serving Texas public school students for the 2026-2027 school year, pending contract approval and the reconciliation of any final contingencies:  

Texas Education Agency Releases Spring 2025 STAAR® Results for Grades 3–8

Reading Language Arts Scores Surpass Pre-Pandemic Levels 

AUSTIN, Texas – June 17, 2025 – The ¶¶ÒõÊÓÆµ today released the 3-8 Spring 2025 State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness (STAAR®) results. The results include assessments in reading language arts (RLA) and mathematics in grades 3-8, as well as 5th and 8th grade science and 8th grade social studies.  

TEA Releases Spring 2025 STAAR® End-of-Course Assessment Results

AUSTIN, Texas – June 10, 2025 – The ¶¶ÒõÊÓÆµ today released the spring 2025 results for the State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness (STAAR®) high school End-of-Course (EOC) assessments. These results are a key measure of how Texas students are performing in Algebra I, Biology, English I, English II and U.S. History.  
This year’s results show modest year-over-year changes, with gains in Algebra I and Biology and slight declines in English I, English II and U.S. History.

TEA Announces Extension of Houston ISD Intervention and New Appointments to Houston ISD Board of Managers

AUSTIN, Texas – June 2, 2025 - Following a review of local feedback and a comprehensive evaluation of Houston ISD’s (HISD) progress, the ¶¶ÒõÊÓÆµ today announced the extension of the intervention in Houston ISD and the appointment of four new board members to the Houston ISD Board of Managers.  

Texas Education Agency Begins Second Phase of Marlin ISD Board Transition

Marlin ISD Board is now comprised of a majority of elected trustees  

AUSTIN, Texas – January 30, 2025 – The ¶¶ÒõÊÓÆµ today announced the initiation of the second phase of the governance transition process for the Marlin Independent School District (MISD) to return governance authority from the appointed Board of Managers to the elected Board of Trustees. This marks an important step and highlights the progress the district has made in improving both student academic performance and governance practices.
