Procedures to Petition for Adoption of State Board for Educator Certification Rule Changes

A resident of Texas, a business entity located in Texas, a governmental subdivision located in Texas, or a public or private organization located in Texas that is not a state agency may petition a state agency for the adoption of a rule or rule change according to the Administrative Procedure Act (Texas Government Code, §2001.021). The State Board for Educator Certification (SBEC) has adopted a rule that prescribes the form for a petition and the procedure for its submission, consideration, and disposition.

The procedure to petition for adoption of changes to SBEC rules is codified as 19 TAC §250.20.

Petition forms must be submitted to the Texas Education Agency using one of the following options.
