News Release

Texas Students Show Gains on All End-of-Course Assessments

AUSTIN, Texas – June 10, 2026 – The Texas Education Agency today released results from the Spring 2026 State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness (STAAR®) End-of-Course (EOC) assessments. The results include assessments in Algebra I, English I, English II, Biology and U.S. History.

The Spring 2026 results reflect continued academic progress for Texas students. Statewide, the percentage of students meeting grade level increased across all EOC subject areas and student groups. Biology, English I and English II continued their upward trajectory, with student performance now surpassing pre-pandemic levels. U.S. History also posted gains, with 70% of students meeting grade level. In Algebra I, 54% of students met grade level, representing a seven-percentage-point increase from last year.

Results were also encouraging for emergent bilingual students, students receiving special education services and economically disadvantaged students. Across each of these student groups, the percentage of test takers meeting grade level increased in every EOC subject area. In Algebra I, economically disadvantaged students saw the percentage meeting grade level rise by seven percentage points compared to Spring 2025.

“These results reflect the hard work of Texas students, educators and families and demonstrate that focused instruction and high expectations continue to produce positive outcomes for students across our state,” said Texas Education Commissioner Mike Morath. “These results may also be reflective of the legislature’s ban of cell phone use in classrooms, so that students are better able to stay focused on their schoolwork while at school.”

The 2026 STAAR EOC Analysis provides a more detailed statewide summary of the Spring 2026 EOC results.

STAAR EOC assessments measure the extent to which high school students have mastered the knowledge and skills needed to succeed in the next stage of their education and graduate prepared for college, a career or military service. Beginning today, parents and families can access their child’s individual STAAR EOC results through their school district’s family portal or by visiting and using the unique access code Ƶ by their child’s school. Reviewing these results gives families valuable insight into their child’s academic strengths and identifies areas where additional support may be beneficial for continued success.

Aggregate STAAR EOC data by state, region, district or campus can be viewed and downloaded from the .

Results for STAAR grades 3–8 will be available to the public on Tuesday, June 16, 2026. On that day, parents and families can see their child’s individual results for grades 3–8 by using the unique access code from their child’s school or by logging into their school system’s family portal.
