The Ƶ requires the addition of two new School-Day-Event-Codes (C208) for use in the 2020-2021 school year. These new codes allow the local education agency (LEA) to indicate if a campus is closed due to the following reasons:
- I. COVID-19: Restricted Access to On-Campus Instruction – TEA Approved Reason
- II. COVID-19: Restricted Access to On-Campus Instruction – Reason Other than TEA Approved Reason
The new codes will be reported on the CalendarDateExtension complex type in the 2020-2021 PEIMS Summer Submission. Once reported, the codes may be verified using the TSDS report “PDM3-116-003 Campus Calendar Minutes Detail”.
What are the new codes?
Code |
Description |
Reason |
Operational Minutes reported |
---|---|---|---|
03 |
COVID-19: Restricted Access to On-Campus Instruction – TEA Approved Reason |
Closed – with TEA approved reason |
The full daily amount as planned in the board- approved campus calendar |
04 |
COVID-19: Restricted Access to On-Campus Instruction – Reason Other than TEA Approved Reason |
Closed – without TEA approved reason |
Only half of the daily operational minutes as planned in the board- approved campus calendar |
Subject to certain exceptions found in the SY 20-21 Attendance and Enrollment FAQ on the TEA coronavirus website, on-campus instruction must be offered for all grades served by a campus every day for every student whose parents want them to access on-campus instruction for each day a campus is providing instruction according to its instructional calendar. An LEA should use code “03” (COVID-19: Restricted Access to On-Campus Instruction – TEA Approved Reason) when restricting access to on-campus instruction for some or all students with a TEA-approved waiver and for any of the reasons listed in the SY 20-21 Attendance and Enrollment FAQ.
An LEA should use code “04” (COVID-19: Restricted Access to On-Campus Instruction – Reason Other than TEA Approved Reason) if access to on-campus instruction is restricted by not allowing some or all students to attend school in-person on a scheduled instructional day in the absence of a TEA-approved waiver or for a reason other than one of the approved reasons listed in the SY 20-21 Attendance and Enrollment FAQ. Examples of these types of days are: a campus is closed to on-campus instruction to prevent the spread of COVID-19; restricting campus access to certain students on testing days without having an approved hybrid high school waiver; or restricting access for any other reason not listed in the SY 20-21 Attendance and Enrollment FAQ. When applying this code to an instructional day, a campus that restricted access to on-campus instruction can only report half of the operational minutes Ƶ or planned for the day.
